A disturbing social media comment has suddenly taken on new significance following the discovery of a sixth woman’s body in Ekurhuleni.
Yesterday, after we reported on the discovery of the fifth woman’s body, a Facebook profile using the name Manqoba Shandu commented on our post.
The comment read:
“It’s just the beginning. More bodies of women will follow.”
At the time, many people ignored the comment, as there was no way of knowing whether it was simply speculation, an attempt to frighten people or whether the person behind the account knew something.
But following the discovery of a sixth woman’s body in Kwa-Thema, Springs, the comment has resurfaced and is now attracting serious attention.
𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗘?
The Facebook account has reportedly raised further questions because it does not appear to have a profile photograph.
The timing and wording of the comment have understandably left people asking whether the person behind the account could have information about what is happening in the area.
However, there is currently no confirmation that the account belongs to anyone involved in the deaths.
That is precisely why the profile and its activity could be important for investigators to examine.
If the account holder had genuine knowledge of what was going to happen, investigators may be able to establish where that information came from and whether there is any connection to the cases.
𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗔 𝗦𝗜X𝗧𝗛 𝗪𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗗
The latest discovery has intensified fears across Ekurhuleni.
With six women now reported dead in the wider investigation, questions are growing about whether some or all of the cases could be connected.
Police have already established a specialised multidisciplinary task team to investigate the deaths, bringing together detectives, forensic specialists, tracking teams, K9 units and investigative psychology specialists.
Authorities are examining the cases for possible links while keeping different possibilities open.

Adding another worrying development to the investigation, a woman reportedly escaped an alleged kidnapping attempt in Kempton Park on Sunday night.
She reportedly managed to get away and went directly to Kempton Park Police Station, where she provided police with information about what had happened.
The details she has given investigators could potentially prove important as authorities work to establish whether there are any connections between the various incidents.
At this stage, however, police have not publicly confirmed that the alleged kidnapping attempt is connected to the deaths of the women.
𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡?
The developments have created a disturbing picture.
Six women have now been found dead across Ekurhuleni, a woman has reportedly escaped an alleged kidnapping attempt, and a social media account made a chilling comment about more women supposedly being found shortly before the sixth body was discovered
The big question now is whether these developments are connected.
Could the Facebook comment be nothing more than a disturbing prediction?
Could the person behind the account have information that investigators need to know about?
Or could it simply be an attempt by someone to create fear and confusion?
Those are questions that only a proper investigation can answer.
For now, the social media account should be treated as a potential lead rather than proof of involvement
As investigators continue gathering forensic evidence, tracing movements, examining possible links between the cases and following information from members of the public, the pressure to identify whoever may be responsible is growing.
